The New York Times reports that the number of victims of the hurricane Harvey and the floods that followed it has reached 30 people.

The state of Texas notes that it is only about confirmed cases. They fear that the number of deaths will increase significantly when the roads become passable. From the forecasts of meteorologists it follows that showers will last for at least two more days. And this despite the fact that in the south of the United States in the zone of influence "Harvey" the amount of precipitation already is equivalent to about 57 trillion liters of water (as much falls from the Niagara Falls in 15 days).

Also, the evacuation of residents from flooded areas continues, the number of rescued persons has exceeded 13 thousand people. There are not enough places in shelters to accommodate all. The authorities of several cities decided to use as conference centers and stadiums as shelters.

In Houston, a curfew was announced from midnight to five in the morning.

Mayor of the city Sylvester Turner explained that this measure is designed to "prevent looting of abandoned houses and accidents on flooded roads, to allow volunteers to carry out their tasks without hindrance". It is noted that the police arrested 14 people for looting.

As reported, "Harvey" has become the most powerful hurricane in the US over the past 12 years. Now it is weakened to the category of tropical storm. It is expected that the destruction from it may be even more than from the hurricane Katrina in 2005.
