RIA Novosti reports that the seventh round of inter-Syrian talks has started in Geneva. A delegation of the Syrian government led by the country's ambassador to the United Nations, Bashar Ja'afari, began a meeting with the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

It is expected that later Mistura will hold a working lunch with the heads of delegations of the Syrian opposition - the High Committee for Negotiations, the platforms "Moscow" and "Cairo".

The UN Special Envoy earlier called for not to have inflated expectations from the outcome of the current round of talks.

However, the Syrian participants in the meetings believe that the beginning of the action on the evening of July 9 ceasefire in southern Syria will positively affect the inter-Syrian discussions.

The seventh round of inter-Syrian talks is taking place in Geneva after an international meeting on Syria in Astana and bilateral talks between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States in Hamburg, as a result of which an armistice agreement was reached in the southern regions of Syria.
