The World Boxing Association (WBA) awarded Russian Murat Gassiev the title of full-fledged heavyweight champion of its organization.

This title passed to the Russian boxer after Alexander Usik vacated his WBC, WBA and IBF belts.

It is noted that Gassiev previously held the position of regular WBA champion, receiving this title in December last year in a fight with Kubrat Pulev, whom he defeated by knockout.

The World Boxing Association has released an updated ranking of the organization in the heavyweight division, in which the Russian is already listed as a full-fledged champion. Usik was removed from the list.

As you know, Gassiev’s next fight is scheduled for July 11 in Moscow against Tony Yoki.

Also, after Usik’s refusal from the titles, the WBC appointed Agit Kabayel, who previously held the interim belt of this organization, as a full-fledged champion.
