Chelsea are working on strengthening the left flank of defense and are negotiating the transfer of Rayo Vallecano manager Pep Chavarria.

According to Gerela, the London club is asking the 28-star Spanish team to replace Marc Cucurella, who has officially transferred to Real Madrid. It appears that the Blues have already made initial contact with the player to discuss a possible transfer.

In the 2025/26 season, Chavarria played 44 matches in all tournaments, scoring one goal and providing three assists. Together from Rayo Vallecano they competed until the final of the Conference League, where the Spanish club gave up Cristal Palace with a 0:1 draw.

Last season, Chelsea finished tenth in the English Premier League but failed to qualify for the European Cup.
