National team head coach Julian Nagelsmann was dissatisfied with the referee's decision to call his team's goal in the 1/16 final match of the World Cup 2026 against Paraguay.
At the 102nd goal, Jonathan Ta sent the ball into the net against his opponent, but after reviewing VAR, the referee scored a goal, recording a foul by Waldemar Anton on the Paraguayan goalkeeper.
“It’s just funny that our goal wasn’t sanctioned, but it’s time to find out what was missing. I’m even more disappointed, but I respect that we have a really well-rounded team, and the emotions and training have always been positive. No one fails matches in vain. “Men of all the patients at the stadium and the quiet ones who marveled at the crowd at home,” Nagelsmann is quoted as saying by Bulinews.
The main and additional hour ended with a score of 1:1, and in the penalty shootout the team was the strongest against Paraguay - 4:3. In the 1/8 finals, the Paraguayans will play against the bet winner France - Sweden.
