Lyon forward Roman Yaremchuk shared details of his transfer to the French club and explained why head coach Paulo Fonseca had reservations about his signing.

" If I'm at Shakhtar's, I engraved him, then he knows my style. Paulo is the kind of coach who should be able to play with such an attacker as me.. Tom called me, and Lyon called me to go. Of course, I was ready for the transfer, and that’s what happened.

The Ukrainian also admitted that there was no interest in the French club, despite the difficult fate of his career.

" For the rest of the season I've been playing in some great clubs. I was not spared from traumas by the war in Ukraine, which also greatly affected my psychological state, especially in Benfica. Last season I spent the sunny season in Olympiakos. I was the key player of this team, we won a trophy, I scored a lot of goals.

The attacker said that the transition to Lyon became for him a chance to again prove himself on a high level.

“It’s completely natural for the clubs to cuddle with you if you’re doing good. For me, Lyon is the place where I can show myself and show my country, that I hope to bring them a little joy,” Yaremchuk said.

Apparently, the Ukrainian forward arrived to Lyon on loan from Olympiakos. The French club has already played 12 matches, scoring 5 goals and providing one assist.
