The Bank of Russia will close 46 settlement and cash centers this year

First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Georgy Luntovsky at the III International Conference "Actual Issues of Development of Cash Circulation" reported that the Bank of Russia will close in 2017 another 46 of its cash settlement centers, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

As reported, last year the Bank of Russia closed 33 settlement and cash centers, at the beginning of 2017, it had 237 structural divisions operating with cash. The Central Bank also last year liquidated its central depository, which existed since 1923, transferring reserve funds and gold reserves to regional storage facilities, as well as to the newly organized storehouse of the Department of Cash Cash Education.

In addition, the Central Bank consistently reduces the cost of organizing cash circulation, since April 2016 is conducting an experiment, passing the processing of part of its cash in the Moscow region, Sberbank.

Luntovsky said: "We do not plan to limit ourselves to Sberbank, we have already met with a number of other commercial banks that have repositories that meet our requirements. In addition, we agreed to expand the experiment with Sberbank, including by transferring to other territories ".
