In the European Union, the Cyprus Presidency plans to consider as quickly as possible the issue of providing Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros and adopting the 20th package of sanctions against Russia after Peter Madyar won the elections in Hungary, an Ukrinform correspondent reports..
He also noted that they plan to submit both issues for consideration by the ambassadors of the EU countries in the COREPER format immediately after the opportunity arises, in order to make a decision as quickly as possible.

During the election campaign, Madyar spoke cautiously about possible relations with Ukraine and focused more on the country's internal problems than on foreign policy and relations with neighboring states and the EU. At the same time, Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his supporters tried to portray him as an ally of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Madyar's statements were never pro-Ukrainian. As Politico previously wrote, he opposed Ukraine’s accelerated entry into the EU, opposed arms supplies to Kyiv, and made it clear that he wanted to put the question of joining the Union to a referendum.
Let us note that it will take a little more time for the formation of a new government in Hungary and its acquisition of the rights to make certain decisions. According to Hungarian law, the new parliament must take the oath of office no later than May 12. At the same time, two to three weeks usually pass between the first session of the National Assembly and the formation of a new government. That is, the new government in Hungary will begin work no earlier than the beginning of June.
