People's Deputy Irina Gerashchenko emphasized that the existence of courts with names associated with Soviet executioners is unacceptable for modern Ukraine. She noted that changing the name of local general courts will not lead to the formation of a new court, its reorganization or liquidation.
In June 2023.
Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremen called on President Zelensky to consider renaming the courts with the names Leninsky and Moskovsky. The bill must undergo a second reading and a final vote in the Verkhovna Rada, after which the renaming of the courts will be officially approved. This will be another important stage in the process of de-Russification and de-communization in Ukraine.
Earlier in the Rada the vote for renaming Yuzhny, Pervomaisk, Pavlograd and other cities and villages in Ukraine failed.
