President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi on Tuesday. This was reported in the press service of the Office of the President.

The meeting took place against the background of the visit of the IAEA delegation to the Zaporozhye NPP planned for this week..

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is interested in the arrival of the IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP, and noted the need for complete demilitarization of the plant. The President insists that this territory should become a demilitarized zone and the plant should be transferred under the full control of the Ukrainian state.

“We want the IAEA mission led by Mr. Grossi, thanks to our special services, security corridors, to find an opportunity to get to the station and do the maximum to avoid a global threat,” he said..

Zelensky called the IAEA visit to ZNPP one of the highest priority security issues for Ukraine and the world.

“There are big risks regarding possible explosions at the station, disruption of the operation of nuclear reactors, as well as disconnection of Zaporizhzhya NPP units from the Ukrainian network,” the head of state stressed..

The President of Ukraine expects strategic decisions from the IAEA on the urgent demilitarization of the station and the withdrawal of Russian troops from there.
