President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples noted the importance of protecting the rights of the peoples who have always lived in the territory of the Crimea occupied by the Russians.
“We pay due attention to the struggle for the rights and historical justice for the indigenous peoples of Ukraine - the Crimean Tatar people, Karaites and Krymchaks. We are preparing new solutions for the protection and assistance in exercising their rights. We are also preparing programs for the economic restoration of Crimea after the liberation from the invaders,” he said during an evening address.
Zelensky recalled that different national communities have lived and live in Ukraine for centuries. Ukraine is a homeland for peoples whose national cultures and aspirations were formed in Crimea.
