With its statements about its readiness to destroy Europe's largest nuclear power plant, Russia resorts to nuclear terrorism, said Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk.

“The occupiers’ statements about the mining of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and their readiness to blow it up, before that the shelling, only say that Putin’s troops have gone berserk and are threatening the world with a nuclear catastrophe,” he wrote in response to statements by the commander of the Russian occupation garrison at the Zaporozhye NPP, Valery Vasilyev.

The Speaker of the Parliament recalled that the Zaporozhye NPP is the sixth nuclear power plant in the world, and it belongs to Ukraine, while Russia has occupied it and is forcing employees to work at gunpoint.

“But now, not only the nuclear security of Ukraine is on the scales. The world must be aware of the consequences of terrorist actions. And react accordingly,” Stefanchuk stressed..

Recall that the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Energodar, Zaporozhye region, has been under Russian occupation since March.. On August 5-7, infidels fired several times at the industrial site of the nuclear power plant, damaging the high-voltage line of the autotransformer, the nitrogen-oxygen station and the combined auxiliary building. After the shelling, it was necessary to unload and turn off the fourth power unit.

The occupiers are purposefully destroying the station’s connections with the Ukrainian energy system in order to leave the south of Ukraine without electricity, explained at Energoatom.

The head of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, called unacceptable hostilities nearby and directly on the territory of the nuclear power plant, the organization is ready to send a security mission, but the consent of Ukraine and the Russian Federation is required.

The night before, the commander of the Russian garrison at the ZNPP captured by Russian troops, Vasilyev, said that at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant “there will be either Russian land or a scorched desert”.
