People's Deputy Semyon Semenchenko said that the majority of residents of the occupied territories of Ukraine must be deprived of their citizenship.

This was discussed in his interview to the publication "Censor. NO".

"I do not consider the majority of people who are in the occupied territory, citizens of Ukraine. I believe that they need to take the citizenship. A citizen of Ukraine should not be a person who, having a passport, waved and shouted: "The state, take care of me!" No, this is a person who understands that besides rights there are also duties. Their duties are to protect Ukraine, respect its state symbols, protect the lives of others. This is stated in the Constitution. If he does not recognize this, was when our symbols were torn and did nothing, healthy and full of energy - this is not a citizen of Ukraine. It's another matter if it's a grandmother, a sick woman, a child, or some doctor who is doing his duty there, staying with the sick. "- believes the People's Deputy.

According to him, citizenship is not needed for people who knowingly live in the occupied territories and do not fight for their country.

"All the able-bodied population must be deprived of citizenship, men who are in the age of conscription.

Not doctors, not disabled. If people knowingly reside there, do not join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, do not fight for their land, I believe that they need to be deprived of citizenship. And ask them themselves the question, what for them is Ukraine and why do they need this citizenship at all, "said Semenchenko.

As reported by the "Observer", earlier Semenchenko was convicted of populism and PR.
