The Ukrainian Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican), Tatyana Izhevskaya, was not "summoned" to the Pope of Rome, but only met with officials of the State Secretariat of the Holy See. The ambassador was not "summoned" because the term in diplomacy is used as an indication of serious tension in relations between states.

Such conclusions follow from the official report of the Apostolic Nunciature in Ukraine (Vatican Embassy), commenting on the initiative of the Vatican.

It also follows from the Nunciature's statement that the ambassador did not meet with Pope Francis to discuss draft laws No. 4128 and No. 4511.

At the same time, it follows logically from the document that the high-ranking persons of the Holy See really expressed serious concern about the draft laws and, accordingly, criticized them, unlike what is claimed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The full version of the official appeal is available here..

As the "Observer" wrote, on May 19 archpriest of the UOC-MP Nikolai Danilevich on his page in the social network stated that allegedly Pope Francis, concerned by the bills, "called our ambassador". Later in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine denied this information, saying: "There was no call".
