"The Putin majority", representing about 66% of active citizens of the country, sees only one worthy candidate for the post of the head of the Russian Federation - the current president Vladimir Putin. If he decides to stand for election in 2018. , Then the election campaign will acquire the nature of a referendum. And if it does not, then most of the Russians will be at a dead end.

The leading political force in Russia in the upcoming pre-election period 2017-2018. Will become the so-called "Putin's majority". This is approximately 61-66% of Russian voters who support the ideas of the current president, approve of his political course. And it does not matter where people live, how old are they and what is their education. "Putin's majority" is evenly represented in all socio-demographic and professional circles of Russian society.

This conclusion was reached by the experts of the Civil Society Development Foundation (FORGO). On Thursday, May 4, they presented a report based on the statistical data of the research holding Romir (representative of Gallup International in the Russian Federation and the CIS), the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VCIOM), the Public Opinion Foundation, and the analysis of the structure of media consumption.

It turned out that in vain some political scientists scared the head of state with the loss of support for the population because of the economic and social difficulties that hit the country. Yes, the difficulties did not leave anyone indifferent, but, on the contrary, only united the people. Therefore, Putin's supporters were added, young people joined in their ranks, and formerly apolitical citizens.

All of them are united by the main thing: patriotism. They are absolutely convinced that Russia as a sovereign state has the right to its own way in the world, whose goal is to protect the security and interests of citizens. They agree that strong social guarantees are necessary, and they realize that the market economy creates the most favorable conditions for people's lives. The democratic structure of the modern Russian state, in their opinion, allows to ensure the maximum possible popular representation at all levels of government. At the same time, stability in the eyes of the "Putin majority" is a necessary condition for the development of the country and its movement forward.

The main conclusion made by the FORGO analysts is that the "Putin majority" simply does not have "number two" among the current politicians. That is, a potential replacement for Putin in the event that he does not put forward his candidacy for the presidency, for them there is not even a hypothetical. And it turns out that the 2018 elections will be either a referendum - if Putin declares his participation, or a huge part of the electorate will be in a dead end.
