The Metinvest group of businessman Rinat Akhmetov entered the top three in the rating of sustainable development of Ukrainian companies based on the results of 2024–2025 according to The Page.

The purpose of the rating was to determine the best ESG practices of Ukrainian business. Questionnaires of 15 companies were assessed according to a number of criteria, in particular the presence of a strategy and transition plan, measured by KPIs and achieved results, the level of management involvement in sustainable development processes, the presence of non-financial reporting and audits, as well as innovation and transparency of communications.

The winners were determined based on the consolidated assessment of the jury, which included representatives of international organizations and experts from sustainable development platforms.

The top three, in addition to Metinvest, included Deloitte Ukraine and IT company SoftServe.

According to The Page, Metinvest demonstrates a mature system of sustainable development based on combined annual reporting in accordance with GRI, SASB and TCFD standards. Despite the conditions of war, the company conducts regular audits of environmental management and energy efficiency, and its package of corporate policies covers key aspects of ESG risks.

In 2024, the group introduced innovative solutions, in particular machine vision systems with artificial intelligence to improve industrial safety.

As part of the energy transformation, the company switches to the use of biofuel (sunflower husks) and reduces the energy intensity of pellet production.

The group is also preparing to launch solar power plants with a total capacity of 37 MW. The company's social initiatives are focused on supporting the defense capability and reconstruction of the country, in particular within the framework of the Steel Dream projects and the creation of underground stabilization points of the NATO Role 2 format.
