Ukrainians can soon receive payments for electricity with twice the amount than before. The increase in tariffs is expected immediately after the end of the heating season. This was announced by Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko, writes glavcom. ua.
“Today, the tariff for household consumers is about four times lower than the real price of energy. And, supporting this tariff, the state subsidizes every kilowatt-hour, regardless of the income level of all consumers. Today, more than UAH 140 billion a year is spent on such subsidies,” Boyko explained..
What will be the growth.
Households consuming up to 100 kWh per month (inclusive) today pay for electricity at a tariff of UAH 1.44 (including VAT) per 1 kWh, and those consuming more than that - at a tariff of UAH 1.68 (including VAT) per 1 kW.
If earlier you could pay 360 hryvnia for consumption of 250 kWh, then for doubling the tariff the bill will increase to 720 hryvnia. On average, payment for electricity in Ukraine in 2023 can grow from the current UAH 240 per month to UAH 470 (at a tariff of UAH 2.8 / kWh) or up to about UAH 840 (at market pricing).
When to expect a rate increase.
Recently, Minister of Energy German Galushchenko said that the issue of tariff increases could be considered after the end of the heating season - approximately mid-April: “If tariffs are revised, then only after the end of the heating season, and the increase can only be diversified, that is, depending on consumption.

As previously reported, the BP Energy Committee named the level of future prices for electricity and gas, which are now being discussed. If the authorities decide on market tariffs, the cost of heat alone should increase at least 2.5-3 times.
