The Ministry of Agrarian Policy approved new rules for the production, circulation and use of medicated feed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with reference to the order dated January 26, 2023 No. 69.
New rules for the production, circulation and use of medicated feed and intermediate products for the production of medicated feed will come into force one year after the end of martial law.
The order concerns mainly manufacturers, distributors of relevant products and veterinarians. In particular, it establishes:.
capacity requirements for the production and/or circulation of medicated feed and the prevention of cross-contamination,.
requirements for the storage and transportation of medicated feed,.
quality control criteria, record keeping, complaints and withdrawals (recalls) of medicated feed,.
requirements for feed market operators,.
labeling requirements for medicated feed and intermediates for the production of medicated feed,.
packaging requirements for medicated feed and intermediate products for the production of medicated feed,.
operating permit for the production and circulation of medicinal feed,.
features of issuing veterinary prescriptions for medicinal feed.
At the same time, a separate part of the order concerns animal keepers, in particular, holders of productive animals.. The order establishes requirements for the use of medicinal feed.
The regulation obliges:.
use medicated feed in accordance with veterinary prescriptions for such feeds, take measures to avoid cross-contamination and ensure that these feeds are fed only to animals specified in the relevant veterinary prescriptions;
do not use medicated feed that has already expired;
ensure compliance with the withdrawal (waiting) periods stipulated by veterinary prescriptions for medicated feeds;
keep records in any form on the use of medicated feed. These records must be kept for a period of five years after the use of medicated feeds, even if during this period there was a slaughter of food-producing animals fed on said feeds..
Important is the part of the order, which is aimed at the use of veterinary drugs in animal husbandry, in particular antibiotics, without a prescription from a veterinarian or for prophylactic purposes.. In this regard, the order states that:.
medicated feed containing antimicrobial veterinary medicinal products should be used only in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation on the use of antimicrobial veterinary medicinal products and not be used for prevention purposes,.
medicated feed containing immunobiological veterinary medicinal products must be used on the basis of veterinary prescriptions and in accordance with the requirements of the legislation on the use of immunobiological veterinary medicinal products,.
medicated feed for productive animals containing antiparasitic veterinary medicinal products must be used in accordance with veterinary prescriptions issued for such feed.
