Russian customs officials proposed to introduce a duty on all purchases in foreign online stores, regardless of the price of the purchased goods. According to the estimates of the Federal Customs Service, the new tax will annually bring up to 25 billion rubles to the Russian budget. Currently, according to Russian law, Internet purchases are not subject to a fee, with a value not exceeding 1 thousand. euro and weighing up to 31 kg, remind "Vedomosti". At the same time, the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union agreed to gradually reduce the amount of the non-taxable limit: from 2019 in a foreign online store it will be possible to buy duty-free goods worth up to 500 euros, from 2020 to 200 euros.

The deputy head of the FCS, Timur Maksimov, confirmed that his department would soon initiate a lowering of the duty-free purchase limit to 200 euros, and then impose a tax of 20% on purchases cheaper than 200 euros. Thus, all online purchases made outside of Russia will be levied with an additional fee.

The Russian government has previously discussed the introduction of a tax for such large foreign online retailers as AliExpress, Amazon and eBay, according to URA. EN. At the same time, experts believe that such measures may force sellers to refuse to work with Russian buyers.
