Not since 2021, as provided for by the existing draft law on pension reform proposed by the Verkhovna Rada Cabinet of Ministers, and as early as next year. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday, September 6 by World Bank Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen.

According to him, the WB believes that the indexation, which is provided by the law itself, should be extended to 2019-2020, and not only from 2021. This is important for the transparency and stability of pension payments and to avoid reducing the size of pensions, - she explained today in Kiev during the round table.

At the same time, Kakhkonen noted that one of the goals of the reform is to create a system that would be based on rules, not on a subjective decision of the state apparatus. This goal will not be achieved if the indexation in 2019-2020 is left to the discretion of the authorities, "she explained, adding that such ambiguity in the indexation of pensions could undermine citizens' confidence in the pension system, and this should be avoided.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the government draft pension reform provides that in 2019-2020, the indexation of pensions will be carried out under a separate decision of the Cabinet.
