In Ochakovo in the south of Ukraine, the construction parts of the US Navy in the framework of the military assistance program are working on the construction of the Naval Operations Management Center of the Ukrainian Navy. This was reported by LIGA with reference to the press service of the US Navy.

Work on the base site started on July 25, but before that since April Ukraine and the US signed contracts, concluded contracts, coordinated project documentation and logistics issues.

"The beginning of construction in Ukraine is a significant achievement for NMCB 1 (the 1 st Mobile Construction Battalion of the US Marines, also called Seabees, - Ed.. Strategically important is our ability to maximize Ukraine's initiatives for European integration, which ultimately will bring improvements in infrastructure, enhance the country's defense capability, and strengthen our relations and provide new opportunities for joint training, "said Marine Bees representative Jr. Jason McGee.

The country's military command will receive a full range of fleet management tools in Ochakiv, which will ensure more rapid and adequate adoption of mission-critical solutions in difficult situations.

The US military will not be limited to building this center. Later, the Seabees division will take up the construction of docks and repair shops, as well as checkpoints with a perimeter fence around the base.

In February 2017, the Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine is considering the possibility of acquiring for its Navy military ships that are withdrawn from the active fleet of certain Western countries.
