The hryvnia exchange rate on the interbank foreign exchange market on Monday, May 3, strengthened to 26.495 UAH / dollar from 26.565 UAH / USD at the close of trading on the previous business day.
As the dealers of commercial banks reported, quotes of hryvnia to the end of trading amounted to 26.48-26.51 UAH / dollar.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) did not hold an auction on that day.
According to the NBU, the weighted average rate of the hryvnia on the interbank foreign exchange market on this day has strengthened to 26.5234 UAH / dollar from 26.5609 UAH / USD on the previous working day.
The trade turnover amounted to 243.12 million dollars, whereas on the previous working day it amounted to 266.22 million dollars.
On April 13, the NBU decided to reduce the discount rate from 14% to 13% per annum. "Restoring the cycle of monetary policy mitigation is consistent with the need to achieve inflation targets in 2017-2019 and will support the pace of economic growth," the NBU said..
At the same time, the inflation rate will remain within the previously outlined indicators. The inflation forecast for 2017 remains at the level of 9.1%, for 2018 at the level of 6%. In 2019, inflation is projected to decline to 5%.
