Fake letters began to be sent en masse to Ukrainians on behalf of the head of the Office of the President Kirill Budanov from fake email addresses, trying to pass them off as official requests from government agencies. Fraudsters use these messages to manipulate and collect information, so any such letters are part of a cyber attack and require mandatory verification.

This was reported by the official Internet representation of the President of Ukraine. According to the data, one of these letters was received by the President of the Ukrainian National Union of Canada Yuriy Klufas.

It spoke of an alleged request to “provide media and information support” for the return of Ukrainian citizens home. At first glance, the text looks official and convincing. However, a detailed analysis reveals key signs of fraud.

In particular, the letter did not come from the official state domain, a third-party mailing address was used on the commercial dataloggery service, and the signature does not correspond to real officials. Specifically, the sender address was disguised as an official address, but actually used a third-party domain, which is a typical sign of phishing attacks.

Cyber \u200b\u200bfraud campaigns like these are dangerous not only because of the manipulation attempts, but also because of the potential consequences. Among them are discrediting government institutions and attempts to gain access to confidential information.

After the fake emails were discovered, the information was transferred to the relevant law enforcement agencies for further investigation.. Cybersecurity specialists are already working to identify the source of the mailing and possible organizers of the campaign..

Government agencies note that official communication is never carried out through random or commercial postal addresses, and all requests have clearly confirmed domains and verification procedures. Cybersecurity experts once again urge you to carefully review any emails, especially if they contain requests or require action..
