London police are concerned about the growth of serious crimes in the British capital. Over the past two months, London for the first time ahead of New York in the number of murders, - reports BBC.
Since the beginning of 2018 in London, 46 people have been killed or seriously injured, in New York - 50 people. However, in February and March, the number of serious crimes in New York declined (32 murders), while in London this figure rose to 37.
According to the former chief superintendent of the London police Leroy Logan, statistics over the past two months indicate that the increase in violence in the British capital has acquired a "viral character".
The population of London and New York is approximately the same: in the British capital, there are about 8.8 million people, in New York - about 8.6 million. At the same time in London, serious crimes were committed less than in New York.
However, according to statistics provided by the New York and London police, London now "outscored" New York by the number of murders committed in February-March.
The administration of Greater London expressed "deep concern" over the increase in the number of murders, as well as the increased incidence of knife attacks in the capital of Britain. However, the police, and the city administration, note that London remains one of the safest cities in the world.
