A resident of the village Nazarino Pestovo district of the Novgorod region seriously injured a police officer who arrived at his own challenge. The incident occurred on Sunday morning. 62-year-old local resident Gennady Rodionov called the police, and when the district police arrived, shot him in the head with a gun.

The injured police officer Oleg Jankovets was seriously hospitalized in the nearest hospital. The governor of the Novgorod region, Andrei Nikitin, ordered the use of a helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to evacuate the victim to Moscow, where he will be provided with specialized assistance.

The shooter, who is in a state of strong intoxication, locked himself in the house and threatens to shoot himself.
