Over 300 predominantly rural residents of the country were injured, houses and infrastructure were destroyed. According to the local newspaper Post-Sourier, referring to the data of the provincial authorities, more than 13 people died in the capital of Southern Highlands Mendy, another 18 people were killed in the most affected areas of Kutubu and Bosava.

The rescuers and the military were sent to help the victim, in many places landslides occurred that destroyed and damaged many buildings. Almost completely destroyed airport runway, all flights are canceled.
