A young Kaliningrader set fire to a New Year's tree in the center of the city in order to attract attention and solve personal problems, Novy Kaliningrad informs, citing the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"The man poured the main city spruce with combustible liquid from a plastic bottle and set it on fire, he was stopped by a city dweller who was walking at a Christmas tree with his family," writes the edition.
Further, the vigilant citizen held the intruder until the arrival of the police.
The detainee was taken to the duty unit, the question of initiating a criminal case under article. 167 of the Criminal Code "Intentional damage to property", which involves punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
