On Friday evening, an An-148 passenger plane belonging to the Saratov Airlines Company, on the way from Penza to Sochi, collided with a flock of birds. It happened on takeoff at Penza airport.
The crew drew attention to extraneous, uncharacteristic noises and the subsequent vibration of the left engine. After the commander reported the suspicion of engine failure, it was decided to send the vessel to the alternate aerodrome of Saratov.
Apart from the crew, there were 82 passengers. Having developed fuel, the crew in 01. 15 MSK safely landed on one engine. Passengers were quickly deployed in the terminal building and provided with hot meals and drinks. An hour and a half after landing, they were all sent to Sochi on the reserve board Yak-42.
In Saratov, when the aircraft was inspected, it became clear that the result of a collision with a bird was the damage to the left engine fan blades.
