Law enforcement officials exposed two residents of the Chernihiv region, who for years gained the trust of lonely pensioners and people with disabilities and, having taken over their housing, poisoned the owners with a lethal dose of poison. Operatives detained the organizers of the “scheme” and prevented the murder of a 66-year-old Chernigov resident who is visually impaired.

It was established that for many years the men acted according to a well-thought-out criminal scheme: they looked for people who were in a vulnerable state and persuaded them to drink alcohol together.

Fraudsters regularly brought such people alcohol, to which they added potent drugs and harmful substances (methyl alcohol).

They convinced the victims to issue a power of attorney to dispose of their property and, having received the relevant documents, added a lethal dose of the drug to alcohol and gave it to the property owners..

While trying to give another victim a poisonous alcohol-containing substance to drink, the accomplices were detained by NPU operatives with the force support of the KORD special unit..

During authorized searches, bottles with alcohol-containing substances, potent pills, citizen passports and property documents - powers of attorney, wills, instructions, statements, purchase and sale agreements, pension certificates, as well as dozens of bank cards and mobile phones - were confiscated from the defendants..

In addition, a rifle and a smoothbore shotgun with cartridges were found in the detainees’ possession..
