Negotiations on ending Soviet aggression in Afghanistan and the withdrawal of Soviet troops from there took place for almost four years. Therefore, Russia has a huge experience of stalling for time, putting forward various demands, and disagreeing with the conditions of the other side..

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who occupy the strange positions of “friend of the president” and “son-in-law of the president,” are the de facto collective US Secretary of State, since it is they, and not the official Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who represent the US in the most significant international negotiations. All three delegations included high-ranking military and intelligence officials.

Does this mean that mainly military issues were discussed But the military does not decide anything on its own – neither in the USA, nor in Ukraine, nor in Russia.

One thing is clear. As was clear long before the negotiations in Abu Dhabi. Putin will agree to suspend the war only if he sees that he has serious problems in the economy, which lead to the inability to have enough resources to continue the war and at the same time maintain social standards that guarantee him peace within the country and the inviolability of his power. But he will never give up his goal - the destruction of Ukraine and the restoration of the Russian empire.
