However, in this case, if Trump is really going to send signals to Putin, it is important to monitor what exactly he will say.

The 47th president is extremely buoyed by his role as a Middle East peacemaker, and apparently now wants to project his approach to stopping the war between Israel and Hamas onto the Russian-Ukrainian war. But this approach can only work when both warring sides depend on those seeking to end hostilities between them.. Trump ensured that Israel could inflict as much damage as possible on Hamas after the end of the previous ceasefire in March.. And then he demanded that Israel agree to a new ceasefire and a 20-point peace plan in exchange for the release of all twenty Israeli hostages remaining in the hands of Hamas. At the same time, Qatar, which is the main financial sponsor of Hamas, demanded that it agree to release the remaining hostages in exchange for a ceasefire. Donald Trump has great personal interests in Qatar, from which he has received gifts in the form of a $400 million plane and investments in the construction of golf clubs and hotels.. All these factors formed a puzzle in which both Netanyahu and Hamas were forced to accept the conditions dictated by them. At the same time, what will happen next in Gaza is unpredictable. But from the fact that after the withdrawal of Israeli troops, Hamas showed that it immediately restored its power by organizing demonstrative public executions of its opponents, it follows that at the moment it does not intend to give up power and disarm, as provided for in the peace plan.

However, is Trump’s approach to ending the war between Israel and Hamas projected into the Russian-Ukrainian war The 47th president was confident, considering Putin his friend (according to John Bolton, Trump's former national security adviser), that he would reach an agreement with Putin. And he offered Putin conditions that no one would offer: the lifting of sanctions, and the recognition of Crimea as Russian, and large investments in Russian energy, and joint energy projects, and the restoration of Russian energy supplies to Europe.. In exchange for a ceasefire. But Putin was not interested in anything proposed. Because for him, the destruction of Ukraine is not only more important than everything that Trump offered him, but it is the embodiment of his dream of restoring the Russian empire.

Trump tried to put pressure on Ukraine so that it actually agreed to Russian conditions, that is, to surrender. But he didn’t succeed here either.. Ukraine received the support of European leaders and the vast majority of European countries, in fact all of them except Hungary and Slovakia.

What can Trump do now Apparently, he decided that Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries could be more convincing to Putin than the proposed political concessions and economic proposals from the United States. This is also supported by the fact that, as reported by the Financial Times and other media with links to sources, American intelligence began in the summer to provide Ukraine with much more detailed information to help strike oil refineries, and this information includes data that allows it to bypass Russian air defenses.

It is obvious that Ukraine is asking and will ask the United States to provide more weapons, and primarily additional air defense systems to protect against Russian attacks, as well as long-range missiles to intensify attacks on Russian oil refineries and military plants. We can assume that this will be discussed behind closed doors.. What matters is what decisions are made.
