The Baltic countries turned off their electric systems from the Bral’s energy system (Belarus - Russia - Estonia - Latvia - Lithuania) and went to work in an isolated (island) regime. This was reported by the Estonian State Energy Company Elering on Saturday, February 8.
It is indicated that the shutdown process began at about 6:00 local time with the disconnection of power lines between Lithuania and Russian Kaliningrad. Then the lines between Lithuania and Belarus, as well as Latvia and Russia were disconnected. The last stage was the disconnection of the high -voltage lines between Estonia and Russia on the border in Narva.
"
Synchronization of the Baltic countries with a continental European energy system is currently planned. It should take place on Sunday, February 9. Prior to this, Estonia Energy System operators (Elering), Latvia (AST) and Lithuania (Litgrid) will test the autonomous mode of operation. During this period, the energy system of the Baltic countries will function without communication with other frequency zones, and electricity consumption will be supplied thanks to local power plants, as well as the compounds of Estonia-Finland and Lithuania-Sever.
" The continental European frequency zone covers 26 countries and more than 400 million electricity consumers, ”Eling said.
The process of synchronization of the Baltic countries is carried out in collaboration with the European Union and the Association of European Energy Energy Operators ENTSO-E.
We will remind, earlier the Baltic countries completely abandoned Russian gas. They receive this energy resource from European countries and through LNG terminals.
