The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of John Ratcliffe to head the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Thus, Mr. Ratcliffe became the second member of the new US administration, which was approved in the Senate.

According to AP, 74 senators voted for the appointment.. Another 25 voted against, and one legislator did not participate in the vote at all.

Immediately after the vote in the Senate, the new director of the CIA took the oath, and it was accepted by Vice President Jay Di Wence.

Ratcliffe briefly served as CIA director during Donald Trump's first term as president.. But he is considered a loyal person to Trump, and as a legislator, he categorically opposed Trump’s first impeachment.
