German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius says there remains a theoretical danger that aggressor Russia could try to attack NATO states in 2029-2030. The North Atlantic Alliance must be prepared if such a scenario becomes a reality and must ensure its defense capability.

The head of the German defense department said this during a visit to Vilnius on Wednesday, January 22, Delfi reports.. He said that such a possibility exists, taking into account the growth of the Russian armed forces.

According to him, military experts are closely monitoring events in the aggressor country, where “the military industry is actively developing, many tanks and aircraft are being produced, which means that Russia’s armed forces are growing significantly.”.

"

The German Defense Minister said that experts believe that Russian dictator Putin may reorganize his armed forces in 2029-2030 to create the appropriate conditions for a possible theoretical attack on other countries, including NATO countries.

" This task, of course, requires both time and money, but we are striving for the goal,” he emphasized.

German intelligence said at the end of 2024 that the Russian army could try to attack NATO countries before 2030.

Let us recall that the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Kaya Kallas, said that Russia could attack the EU as early as 2028. She called on Europe to invest heavily in defense as Putin currently spends five times more on the military than Brussels.

The German newspaper Die Welt, citing sources in the special services, writes that Putin plans to completely occupy the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions by 2026 and is now arming his troops beyond their needs and accumulating reserves.

In addition, until 2028 the Russian Federation will pose a serious military threat to NATO. According to some experts, an attack on the EU could look like the deployment of unmarked special forces and surprise attacks on targets in Poland, the Baltics, the Baltics or the southeastern flank.
