In the Czech Republic there is a decrease in interest in the situation in Ukraine. If at the beginning of 2024 57% of Czechs actively followed events in Ukraine, then in the last quarter this figure dropped to 43%..

These data are the lowest levels since the start of the war.. This is evidenced by the results of the latest survey conducted by the Czech Center for Public Opinion Research (CVVM), Radio Liberty reports..

Compared to a record 78% in the spring of 2022, when 33% of Czechs were “definitely interested” in the situation and another 45% were “somewhat interested”, the current figures indicate a decrease in attention to the war.

Despite declining interest, most Czechs still consider the situation in Ukraine a serious threat to international security. In particular, 73% of respondents believe that the war in Ukraine poses a threat to world peace, 71% - to European security, and 61% - to the security of the Czech Republic. At the same time, only 36% approve of the actions of the Czech authorities in supporting Ukraine, while 58% disagree with the level of this support.

A significant portion of citizens believe that the Czech government provides too much support to Ukraine, while 32% consider it necessary.

The study also showed that the majority of Czech citizens support diplomatic pressure on Russia (73%) and partially support financial assistance to Ukraine and the provision of military equipment (45%). However, support for sending Czech military personnel to Ukraine is very low - only 11% of respondents are in favor of such a decision.
