In Bratislava, Slovakia, Hungarian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Viktor Orban and Peter Szijjarto held “negotiations” with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. These negotiations concerned the termination of the transit of Ukrainian gas.
The Hungarian Prime Minister announced this on Facebook.. But the Hungarian media spoke in more detail about the negotiations, on the fact of which no decision was made..
" This is bad for Hungary and bad for Slovakia, but everyone is silent about it! "
According to index, which quoted the Hungarian head of government in more detail, Orban really talked a lot about “bad Ukraine”. In particular, he complained that even after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war, “a huge amount of weapons will remain in Ukraine, and this in itself is a risk for its neighbors, for example Hungary.”.
The Hungarian Prime Minister did not explain what the risk is here.. But he told us what the risk of European support for our country is - that the money will not go to them.
“There will be a constant danger that the Brussels money owed to us - and this is the money of the Slovaks and Hungarians - will be redirected by Brussels to Ukraine, and our entrepreneurs who are engaged in agriculture will be ruined,” Index quotes Orban as saying.
Orban also complained to Fico about “Ukraine’s unacceptable refusal to negotiate a settlement” regarding gas transit and “aggressive and hostile statements from Kyiv,” while emphasizing that “Kyiv is no longer so firmly in the saddle to afford this.”.
" The way the people of Kiev are trying to control and shape relations with the countries of Central Europe is unacceptable,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Again, Orban did not explain exactly what countermeasures he meant, and why our relations with other central EU countries are unacceptable to him.
Indirectly, Orban revealed why he is so hostile towards Ukraine. In his opinion, if Ukraine joined the European Union today, “it would destroy Hungary”.
" We will not accept Ukraine into the European Union at the cost of destroying the Hungarian economy,"
In turn, the Prime Minister of Slovakia said that in the future he is ready to veto EU financial assistance for Ukraine.
Orban has recently repeatedly complained that money from Brussels goes to Ukraine instead of Hungary. He is partly right: let us recall that the European Union blocked the allocation of 1 billion euros of aid to Hungary from the general EU budget due to systemic corruption in this country. The European Commission came to the conclusion that Hungary neglects democratic standards and the core values \u200b\u200bof the European Union.
