A photo has been circulated online showing German Foreign Minister Annalena Barbock allegedly running away from Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. A number of media outlets, including Kremlin propagandists, said that the head of the diplomatic department “escaped” because Scholz refused to help Ukraine.

At the same time, Burbock explained that the essence of the photo was misunderstood. The head of the German Foreign Ministry stated this in a commentary to ZDF.

Bild published its own version of the photo, saying it showed the “extremely bad” relationship between Scholz and Barbock. German journalists explained that Scholz is blocking an aid package to Ukraine worth three billion euros, while Barbock calls on the head of government to approve the provision of aid to Kyiv.

It is noteworthy that propaganda media quickly distributed the photo in Russian Telegram channels. Kremlin mouthpieces revealed that Berbock allegedly refused to shake Scholz’s hand and take pictures with him.

However, Burbock said the photo was misinterpreted.. According to her, the picture was taken “instantly,” so she simply did not see the chancellor’s hand.

“From this it is concluded that I do not shake hands, although, as can be seen in the photo, I did not even notice what was happening behind me, because, like every person, I do not have eyes in the back of my head,” the foreign minister said.

Let us recall that Bundestag deputy Sarah Wagenknecht suggested that Berlin “immediately” stop military aid to Kyiv if Moscow ceases fire and begins peace negotiations.

In her opinion, the request of German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius for 3 billion euros to support Ukraine is allegedly “irresponsible”.

Earlier it was reported that German Foreign Minister Annalena Barbock and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius are seeking to allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth 3 billion euros before the Bundestag elections.. However, Chancellor Olaf Scholz is blocking the decision.
