The government of Moldova has made a decision to exclude the Friendship of Independent Powers (FNI) from the list of organizations for which additional membership contributions are carried out. The country is also preparing to leave this friendship. The decisions will be taken as a consequence of the sanctions imposed on Russia.

According to the decision project, disaggregated by the Ministry of Finance of Moldova, the amount expected to pay large membership fees in international organizations in 2023 will increase by 16 million lei (from 66.5 million to 5 0.5 million lei). Moldova no longer pays contributions for participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the SND and other organizations related to this friendship.

Moldova's gradual exit from the SND began after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Moldova has denounced dozens of agreements signed within the framework of the SND, created in 1991 after the collapse of the USSR. The parliament of Moldova has voted to leave the Interparliamentary Assembly of the SND and other benefits such as providing more light space, special equipment for border guards and sharing information about the government and the situation between the participating powers.

This decision reflects the underlying trend in the development of Moldova and other countries that are moving beyond the framework of the union with Russia through its aggressive policy. Ukraine is also actively denouncing various interests from the SND and working on integration into the European Union.

The most important tasks for Moldova include increasing revenues to the state budget through privatization and obtaining investments. The denunciation of membership in the SND is partly a strategy and a favorable development of the open and innovative economy of the region.
