The 6 February earthquakes in Turkey were the deadliest natural disaster on NATO soil since its inception. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg wrote about this on Twitter..

He also said that NATO is helping Turkey to overcome the consequences of a natural disaster..

“Now we are equipping housing for thousands of displaced people and supplying air transport. In Ankara and Hatay, I conveyed our strong solidarity: NATO supports Turkey,” wrote Jens Stoltenberg.

The 6 Feb. earthquakes were bad natural disaster on aliance territory since #NATO 's founding. We are now installing travel services for people sent by people and carrying out the airport. At Ankara \u0026 Hatay, I considered our strong solidarity: NATO stands with #Turkiye. pic. twitter. com/OAHZgC8xfe.

Recall that the earthquake in Turkey claimed the lives of more than 40 thousand people in Turkey itself and in neighboring Syria, where there were also strong tremors.. The UN suggests that the number of victims may exceed 50 thousand people.

Earthquakes are estimated to have caused at least $84 billion in damage to the economy. And the consequences, they say, could not be so terrible if it were not for the dominance of illegal buildings in the country - in connection with this, more than 130 people involved in the developments were detained in the country..
