Nearly 80% of Polish residents consider Russia's war against Ukraine a threat to their state. It is reported by the Polish Radio.

According to a December 2022 CBOS poll, 78% of respondents believe that Russia's war against Ukraine threatens Poland's security, up 3 percentage points from last month's poll.. 18% of respondents have a different opinion (2% believe that this is definitely not a threat and 16% - rather not a threat).

Among some respondents, the belief that the war will not spread to other countries also prevails.. 43% of respondents think so (1% less than in October). 29% of respondents believe that the war will escalate (one percentage point more).

According to 73% of respondents, Poland can be confident in the loyalty of the allies with a possible need to defend the country's borders, while 20% are not so sure.

The poll also looked at NATO's actions in connection with the war in Ukraine.. 36% of respondents consider them too cautious, 49% adequate and 4% excessive.

CBOS also asked respondents whether Poland should accept Ukrainian refugees. 26% chose the answer " “Definitely not” was answered by 4% of respondents and 11% – “rather not”.

52% of respondents (compared to 50% in November) said that they or someone from their household voluntarily and without compensation helps refugees arriving from Ukraine. 48% expressed the opposite opinion.

Respondents were also asked about the assistance Poland provides to refugees from Ukraine. Majority – 64% (one percentage point less) consider this assistance to be sufficient.

At the same time, the number of those who consider it too high increased by three percentage points (from 26 to 29%). Only 3% of respondents consider this assistance to be too small.

The survey was conducted from November 28 to December 11, 2022 on a sample of 1018 people.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the Polish Development Fund Bartosz Marchuk said that currently 950,000 Ukrainian refugees remain in the country.. 90% of refugees are women and children. They make up 2.5% of Poland's population.
