A Kabul professor tore up his diplomas on live television in Afghanistan to protest that the Taliban are now banning women from higher education, CNN reports..

A man named Ismail Mashal is the founder of the private Mashal University in Kabul, as well as a lecturer at Kabul University..

With tears in his eyes and with a trembling voice, he tore up the diplomas during an appearance on Tolo News on Monday.

“From today, I don’t need these diplomas anymore, because there is no place to study in this country. If my sister and my mother cannot study, then I do not accept this education,” he said..
