An explosion occurred at the EMKO ammunition depot near the Bulgarian city of Karnobat, BNR reports..

According to the publication, the event took place on Sunday, July 31, around 4 am. The explosion caused a fire, which has already been extinguished.. The scene was surveyed by drone, the area will be closed within 72 hours.

The owner of the warehouse, Emilian Gebrev, said that obsolete ammunition was stored there, ordered by companies, but not paid.

“There is no question of any human error, because there is no human error. At four in the morning there was an explosion, and then the train burst into flames.. What was inside, no one can say. It is forbidden to go inside for 24 hours, but this is basically ammunition, some are no longer needed at the plant. Some company once ordered, then did not receive the goods due to non-payment, and we had no other choice but to store it there,” the warehouse owner said..

According to the deputy mayor of Karnobat, Stefka Ivanova, there are no human casualties, no threat to the population.

It should be noted that EMKO has been supplying ammunition to Ukraine since 2014..

According to The New York Times, the Russians made several attempts on the owner of the company and destroyed weapons depots.. After all, it was the company of Emilian Gebrev who stored weapons for Ukraine in warehouses in Verbetitsa, where explosions were heard in 2014.

Later, the Senate of the Czech Republic recognized not only that Russia and its special services were involved in the explosions in Vrbetica in 2014, but also qualified these actions as state terrorism.
