Germany should abandon the so-called circular deliveries of heavy weapons to Ukraine and start providing such weapons to Kyiv directly. This was stated by the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agyness Strack-Zimmermann, reports DW..

“We must find the courage to admit that this (arms roundabout - ed.. ) does not work the way we imagined, and accordingly we should switch to direct deliveries instead,” says Strack-Zimmerman.

At the end of April, the Bundestag overwhelmingly supported the supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine. The decision, which received 586 votes from deputies, calls on the German government to continue and, if possible, accelerate the supply of necessary equipment to Kyiv, as well as to expand the transfer of heavy and complex weapons systems, for example, as part of a circular supply.

Berlin promised to compensate for the supply of Soviet-made heavy equipment from the stocks of Eastern European countries, with which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are well acquainted..

Earlier, the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee Marie-Agyness Strack-Zimmermann called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to convene a national conference on Ukraine.

In her opinion, it is urgent to find out what Germany is doing for Ukraine, as well as what else the armed forces, industry and politics of Germany are capable of in order to help Kyiv..

It was also reported that as of mid-June, Berlin had transferred only a third of the promised military aid to Kyiv, but the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Ukraine caused him noticeable emotions, after which Kyiv finally received hope for the supply of the proper amount of heavy weapons from Germany.
