Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who recently broke her silence on the war in Ukraine, commented again on this topic and said that it was not her fault. She said this in an interview with SPIEGEL journalist Alexander Osang, which took place in front of the audience on the stage of the Berliner Ensemble..

Asked by Osang if she could have done something to prevent the war, Merkel replied: " – Could more have been done to prevent such a tragedy – I think this situation is already a great tragedy – could it have been prevented I ask myself these questions, of course."

But in doing so, she blamed flawed security architecture.. “We have not been able to create a security architecture that could have prevented this,” she said..

Oleksandr Osang also voiced to Merkel the words of Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk, who accused her of cultivating a policy of appeasement towards. To which the former head of the German government replied:

“Diplomacy, when it fails, does not make mistakes,” and immediately said that she still considers the Minsk agreements correct and timely.. “I don’t see the need to say that it was wrong and therefore I won’t apologize.”.

Recall, financial analyst Eric Neumann previously stated that Merkel created the economic preconditions for today's problems in Ukraine and in the world.. In his opinion, not only Merkel should be held personally responsible, but Germany as a whole should be aware of its responsibility for the current situation..
