Opposition protests are taking place in the Armenian capital Yerevan for the third day demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is accused of making concessions to Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, Radio Liberty writes..

On Sunday, the opposition held a crowded rally in France Square in Yerevan. Some opposition supporters set up tents on the square and stayed there overnight.. On Monday, actions of disobedience began in the city with the blocking of traffic on the central streets of the capital.. As a result, the police detained about 200 demonstrators..

On Tuesday morning, protests continued - the protesters blocked the section of Baghramyan Avenue leading from the American University to the National Assembly building, temporarily paralyzing traffic along this section, as well as the area near the National Security Service building at the other end of the center of Yerevan and other streets of the city.

Later, the police managed to bring the protesters to the sidewalk and open the road for traffic along the avenue.. Clashes erupted between demonstrators and police. According to preliminary police data, 70 protesters were detained in the morning..

The opposition claims that the current Armenian government intends to make concessions to Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, which explains the need to remove Pashinyan from power through public pressure.

Government officials reject opposition demand for Pashinyan's resignation, saying it lacks support from broad sections of the population.
