Since April 16, Bulgaria has banned ships flying the Russian flag from entering its river and sea ports, the Maritime Administration of the country reported.. The ban also includes Russian ships that changed their flag or re-registered after February 24..

The ban was introduced as part of the EU sanctions imposed for Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

An exception will be vessels in distress or in need of humanitarian assistance.. Also, Russian ships carrying energy, food and pharmaceuticals to the EU countries will be able to enter Bulgarian ports..

On the eve it was reported that from April 17, a ban on the entry of Russian ships into ports was introduced by Romania. Despite this, Romania will allow Russian ships that need help or an emergency stop to enter their ports..

Russia is reducing the production of warships due to a lack of foreign components caused by a lack of money and sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the fact that it unleashed a full-scale war against Ukraine.
