European Council President Charles Michel believes that the European Union can give asylum to Russian soldiers who will lay down their arms and not kill Ukrainians.
“I have one message for Russian soldiers on the battlefield: if you don’t want to be part of the killings of your Ukrainian brothers and sisters, if you don’t want to be criminals, drop your weapons, stop fighting, leave the battlefield,” he told the Russian soldiers.
Michel added that he is aware that some members of the European Parliament are offering asylum for those Russian soldiers who will not obey orders.. “I think this is a valuable idea that should be implemented,” said Michel.
