Britain introduces a new package of sanctions against Russia, restrictions will affect Russian air carriers, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said.
The sanctions include:.
Strengthening the ban on flights of Russian aircraft over British territory, their landing. Any aircraft associated with Russia (owned, chartered, operated, etc.).
Russian-flagged planes will no longer be able to fly into UK airspace - this will be considered a criminal offense. British authorities will be able to detain such planes.
Ability to exclude aircraft owned by Russians and Russian companies from British registries.
Ban on the export of British aviation and space products and technologies to Russia, including insurance and reinsurance services. Coverage of current policies is canceled.
“Banning Russian-flagged aircraft over the UK and making such flights a criminal offense will cause even greater economic damage to Russia and those close to the Kremlin,” Truss said..
The Minister stressed:
Britain will continue to support Ukraine diplomatically, economically and in the field of defense, seeking to isolate Russia in the international arena.
“Putin must fail, which is why we were one of the first countries to ban Russian aircraft, and today we have gone even further by making it a criminal offense to fly them in UK airspace.”. We will not get tired of working to ensure that Putin and his minions do not live ordinary lives while innocent Ukrainians suffer,” says Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps.
