Austria introduces mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for adults, BBC informs.

All persons over the age of 18 who have no contraindications should be vaccinated..

The Austrian government notes that such a step is necessary to save lives and end the pandemic..

Mandatory vaccination requirement will be in effect until January 31, 2024, but it may be canceled earlier.

Authorities won't check vaccination status until mid-March. From April, citizens will be fined for non-compliance with vaccination deadlines.

Earlier, the WHO Regional Office for Europe said that countries on the continent should consider introducing mandatory vaccination against coronavirus.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that the authorities have decided to introduce mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 for Greeks over 60 years old. All Greeks aged 60+ must receive the first dose of the vaccine by January 16, otherwise they will have to pay a monthly administrative fine of 100 euros.

In Italy, the requirement of mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 for some professions came into force on December 15.
