Belarus introduced a temporary ban on the exit of citizens from the country through ground checkpoints. This is stated in the resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus dated December 7, 2020, published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

The decree says the ban is being introduced to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The term for which the ban is introduced is not specified in the resolution.

The restriction will apply at simplified checkpoints, at checkpoints on roads, railway stations and stations and in river ports.

The ban does not apply to persons with diplomatic or service passports, official delegations, drivers of international transportation, crews of aircraft and sea ships, teams of conductors on trains and business travelers..

Also, Belarusians will be able to leave if they have a residence permit in another country, upon notification of illness or death of a close relative, to receive medical assistance, in case of work in a foreign country and for study.

The ban comes into effect 10 days after publication.
